Review Dead Moon (Virtual Console / TurboGrafx-16)
This side-scrolling shooter includes a total of six scenes spanning areas from Earth to the moon.
Those naughty aliens! At least this time they had the sense not to try and invade the planet Earth. They are just intent on wrecking the moon instead rather annoyingly! As a solo starfighter pilot it is your job to put an end to this intergalactic...

About The Game
This side-scrolling shooter includes a total of six scenes spanning areas from Earth to the moon. The story begins with a comet discovered in the vicinity of Pluto that is headed on a sudden collision course with Earth. Mankind narrowly succeeds in diverting the comet's course, and it crashes into the moon.
However, investigations into the damage uncover that what hit the moon was not a comet, but a gigantic mother ship. Power up your ship, destroy enemies and fight your way through the bosses in an attempt to reach the moon's core and protect Earth from alien invasion.
Enjoy the unique world of Dead Moon, including various stages with beautiful backgrounds, a power-up system that increases your attack as well as your defense and bosses that have you altering your ship's direction to fight them.

I like this game, it was fun. The graphics are not the best but hey it's only $6.
If I've never played a shmup before (honestly, I own over 250 games from NES to Wii, and have never picked one up), would this be a decent starting place? Undemanding sounds pretty appealing right about now.
Royal - didn't you read the review?
Welcome to the world of the shmup. Trust us and you will be spared much pain trying out shmups which are below par. Try out Soldier Blade on the TG-16, that's a great shooter. Or R-Type on the TG-16 is an entertaining blast.
I'm not saying don't buy Dead Moon, just try the others first lest you get put off the genre!
Dazza wouldn't this be a good game for a beginner due to easier difficulty.
link64 - it's not too hard, but then again blazing lazers and air zonk aren't particulary hard either. I would choose either one of them over this. It isn't a bad game, it just lacks a certain something!
2 stars??? are you serious?!? this is my favourite TG16 shooter!!
I downloaded this game as I love shoot 'em ups and wanted to give this a try. Everything's so bland and trite about this game: the levels, power ups, enemy attack patterns. It's not worth bothering with in my opinion. I should have read the review first and kept my points, but I'm alway in search of another great shmup on the VC. Bring on Ironclad!
I think this is a great TG16 shooter. The colors are great and I think the music is catchy. I would definitely download this if you are a fan of classic shooters.
This review is crap. Yeah, it's not as good as some of the others mentioned, but at least you can get through without wanting to KILL SOMETHING OUT OF PURE FRUSTRATION. I beat it in fifteen minutes, enjoyed the nice parallax scrolling (esp. level 1 & 3) and the utter lack of walls that you may run into (like in every other schmup). Powerup the red cannon, get the satellites, and enjoy, if you can't stand most schmups.
@BrickRockwell: Just because you happen to personally disagree with it doesn't automatically make the review 'crap'. :3
