As hoped, the very last quiz round has set a record for participation - I'm happy about every one of the 185 users who took part. Some players were completely new, and some really have been playing for the whole ten years. Wow!
There were five different ways to get bonus points in the final round - let's just start with that.
1) The most participants?
There were the most players of all 100 rounds in the last one - 185 people. The closest with "186" was Scorplian from the Gaming Village Forum. Congratulations!
Close behind were Havie (187), Philippe161 (187) and Illusionary (181).
2) The fewest participants?
You didn't have to guess here, if you like digging through over ten years old forum threads you could find out for sure. The correct answer is 5 people, in the "unconventional racing" round in March 2015.
Seven people got it right, so congrats to n_quadra, Jokus, the Ost-West Elite, Gerhard, malus, yollum and OfflineChris.
3) How many participants in total?
There was a lot of guessing between "50" and "10000". But after completing this last round, the number was clear: there were 846 players.
The closest was "856" by ElginMcQueen from the RetroGamer forum. Very nice!
Almost there were Malus (874), Popeye (888) and xxr (889).
4) How many games in total?
This is not so easy to answer - Mega Man looks the same in many games, also fighting games use the same characters across several versions. So there is some blurring, but for the bonus question the correct answer is 2124.
One user guessed "2123" and thus almost exactly hits the correct amount, and it's Windfisch from the hardcore gaming 101 forum. Superb!
Malus (2118) and ToniLustig (2146) were close behind.
5) Forum bonus for participation record
Which forum has managed to reach or even surpass its all-time high of players? FIVE communities have achieved this.
14 out of 13 so far - Multimediaxis 13 out of 12 so far - Gamepro Discord 05 out of 04 so far - Atari Age 06 out of 06 so far - PC Canard 04 out of 03 so far - GamersGlobal
This means that EVERY player from these forums has received an extra point this round. All bonus points are "unweighted", which means that a correctly guessed game still counts more than the bonus point in case of doubt.
But now to the actual quiz - for the last time:

Congratulations to charlix12323 for the local lead in the last round.
None of you got any of the five bonus points - but you did quite well even without bonuses.
Many thanks to everyone for participating! There's one more thing to look forward to, at the end of the month there will not only be an evaluation for the past season (2023), but also a special list for the entire series - and of course the raffle of prizes.
Many thanks to @Mr_Horizon, as ever, plus everyone else who has been along for the ride.
As ever, I'm kicking myself for missing out on two games that I've actually played - albeit over 25 years ago - which has left me just outside the top 50.
The final year is over, you have solved the last of my quizzes... and hundreds of you have played each round, so I would like to announce the final year-end-ranking of all players and the 28 participating forums.
TOP 100 HIGH SCORE
No matter if they were gained with real skill or with steady persistence - here is the point ranking of the Top 100 players of this year. Congrats to marek for his second yearly victory in a row.
No matter if they were gained with real skill or with steady persistence - see below for the Local Top 20 of this year. All players can see their change to last year in brackets.
The "-2" means that in 2023 you had two points less than in the year before, but had zero points in 2023. You were just included because it is a TOP 20 list.
So, I've disappeared from the scene for a while, not only in this thread, but in the whole forum (heck, in ALL forums). Mea culpa! Instead of ‘end of March’, the prize draw will now take place at the end of April.
As a reminder, this is what I wrote in January, these prizes are waiting for the lucky winners:
1x Neo Geo Mini from Maniac forum admin Rocco
1x 50€ Mystery Box from ‘www.retroplace.com - Your marketplace for video games & consoles’
1x ATARI: Art and Design of Video Games. The translator Stephan Freundorfer is publishing the ‘Prince of Persia’ diaries together with the game designer Jordan Mechner in April this year.
The prizes will be raffled off among the top 50, no legal recourse.
So, in this picture are the top 50 from the last round - did I forget anyone? ^_^
These three users will be contacted in May with their addresses. If someone does not get in touch or does not want to give their address, the prize will be awarded at the end of the month to the user of the respective forum with the most total points.

Is that it now? No!
No, because there is one thing left - the 10 year overall ranking, with a special prize. This is coming... sometime in May. We have time now.
